Job title: Credit Controller



Location: Leeds



Terms: Full-time, Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm



Salary: 24,603 - 26,000 dependant on experience



The Role



As a Credit Controller your primary responsibility is to manage and mitigate rental arrears within YPP. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that tenants meet their financial obligations, thereby contributing to the financial health and stability of the company.

Key Tasks



Rent Arrears Monitoring

: Monitor and track rent payments to identify any arrears or late payments. Implement efficient systems for rent collection and payment reminders.

Tenant Communication

: Communicate with tenants regarding rent payments and arrears. Provide clear and timely information on payment expectations, legal actions, and consequences of non-payment.

Negotiation and Resolution

: Engage with tenants to understand the reasons behind late payments. Negotiate and establish realistic payment plans when necessary. Work with tenants to resolve outstanding issues and prevent eviction.

Documentation and Record Keeping

: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tenant accounts. Prepare reports on rent arrears, payment plans, and collection activities. Ensure all communications and agreements are documented appropriately.

Legal Compliance

: Stay informed about relevant local and national housing laws and regulations. Ensure all rent collection activities adhere to legal guidelines.

Collaboration with Other Departments

: Collaborate with multiple departments, such as Lettings, Accounts, and Maintenance, to address complex cases. Provide information and support for legal actions if necessary.

Tenant Education

: Provide tenants with information on financial management and budgeting to prevent future arrears.

Reporting

: Generate regular reports on rent arrears, collections, and other relevant metrics. Present reports to management to inform decision-making.

Damages and Fines

: Manage and charge for damages and fines incurred during the tenancy, ensuring tenants are informed and costs are properly documented.

End-of-Tenancy Costs

: Process and ensure payment for end-of-tenancy costs, ensuring that all relevant charges are applied and documented accurately.

Tenancy Takeovers

: Coordinate tenancy takeovers by finding suitable replacements for tenants, attending viewings, and finalising the necessary paperwork to ensure smooth transitions.

Desirable skills



Mandarin Speaking Candidate

Knowledge of relevant housing laws and regulations.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
