Job Description


The Organisation: Healthcare Conferences UK are the leading provider of national CPD conferences and masterclasses for health and social care professionals and managers working in the NHS, private healthcare sector, care homes and local authorities. We produce and run over 250 events a year focusing on role and service development to ultimately improve patient care, experience and outcomes. We have recently expanded into the Education sector offering professional development for teachers and school leaders. The majority of our events are currently virtual however we do hold in-person events in locations such as London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Leeds. The Role: We are looking for a proactive Credit Controller to join our small finance team, following up unpaid invoices in a polite and professional but firm manner to reduce bad debt and ensure customer accounts are in order. Summary of responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and maintaining the aged debt for the business, under the guidance of the Finance team, prioritising time and working efficiently
  • Contacting customers by telephone and by email, keeping overdue debtors to a minimum
  • Ensuring current debts are collected within customer payment terms
  • Dealing with queries and communicating with the relevant departments to resolve any issues
  • Reporting to the Finance Director and liaise with the Finance Assistant on a regular basis
  • Monitoring all unpaid invoices on a regular basis and contacting those that are overdue
  • Building relationships with customers
  • Taking debit and credit card payments
  • Daily Printing & Posting of invoices
  • Producing monthly reports on credit control/outstanding debtors
  • Liaising with Managing Director regarding credit decisions
  • Monitoring and reviewing of customer credit terms and limits in line with online recommendations
  • Identifying bad debt risks and escalating up to preparation of legal files
  • Reviewing automated sales invoicing and correction of errors
  • Raising and issuing credit notes and manual invoices once authorised
Key Skills, Abilities & Behaviours \xc2\xb7 Previous experience in a credit control or finance role preferable
\xc2\xb7 Able to quickly build rapport and strong working relationships with all key stakeholders
\xc2\xb7 Experience of working with database and finance systems
\xc2\xb7 Strong IT, numeracy and analytic skills, with great attention to detail
\xc2\xb7 Clear and concise communication of information, both verbally and in writing
\xc2\xb7 Ability to be firm but fair with customers
\xc2\xb7 Tactful and diplomatic approach to problem solving
\xc2\xb7 Good polite telephone and email manner
\xc2\xb7 Organisation of workload, able to prioritise workflow efficiently
\xc2\xb7 Able to meet deadlines, works pro-actively, and can multitask

We do expect virtual events to continue moving forward alongside our onsite events. The hours:
This is a full-time, home-based position; regular hours will be Mon-Fri 9.00am-5.30pm with approx. three-four days a month on-site this is usually hosting virtually but could include very occasional onsite in London or other locations as required, normally no more than once a month.
