We\'re the UK\'s largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer our 12 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.\xc2\xa3259 billion of assets under administration. The role

The (Senior) Credit Risk Manager will provide oversight of internal credit ratings assigned to illiquid Real Estate assets, as well as articulate Line 2 credit opinion on the asset class and individual real estate transactions. The candidate will establish themselves as the \'go to\' person on the Commercial Real Estate sector in Line 2 and will interact effectively with stakeholders including the Credit Rating Team, Asset Management, Strategic Partnership & Research Team, Finance, and External Managers.

They will review, challenge and make recommendations on internal rating methodologies from Phoenix Asset Management (PAM) and External Asset Managers that originate Commercial Real Estate (CRE) investments for Phoenix, and will review the appropriateness of internal credit ratings and asset class aspects of strategic asset allocation and investment mandates.

The (Senior) Credit Risk Manager maintains documentation of the risk control framework with regard to credit ratings consistent with the Group risk management standards.

What are we looking for?

  • You will have at least 3 years of Commercial Real Estate experience gained either at a credit rating agency, bank, insurer, asset manager, private equity, boutique, consultancy, surveyor or similar type of organisation.
  • You have experience in analysing complex (structured) commercial real estate transactions, and in providing credit opinions and meaningful feedback to senior management, regulators, asset managers, advisors, and investors.
  • Ability to perform credit analysis on CRE transactions.
  • Understanding of rating agency methodologies associated with commercial real estate based transactions (CRE, CMBS, REIT, CTL, Ground Rent or similar).
  • Rating agency experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the North American market is also a plus.
You think critically, independently, and creatively. You are able to think \'outside-the-box\' and propose analytical approaches to new asset classes and challenge the existing rating approaches, when needed, to improve effectiveness and the overall quality of Phoenix Internal Rating framework. As such, excellent communication and influencing skills (both written and verbal) are required.

You are comfortable and able to operate in a highly regulated, compliance driven environment.

You enjoy working in a fast-changing environment.

If you have nodded while reading the above, please go ahead and apply for this position. You will not regret it, if you are successful in your application. Good Luck!

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we\'ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we\'d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
