Job Description

The Crew and Information Controller plays a critical role in ensuring smooth rail operations by managing crew assignments and real-time information flow. This position involves allocating drivers and train crew to shuttles, optimising resources, and adapting schedules during unexpected events. Additionally, the role requires monitoring rail activities, recording operational data, and communicating essential updates to maintain service quality and customer satisfaction.

Crew Controller Responsibilities:



Ensure teams start their shifts on time and arrange cover for absences to maintain planned operations. Communicate effectively with UK and France crews. Optimise crew and reserve utilisation across depots in collaboration with the Operational Duty Manager (ODM) and Driver Leaders. Produce space-time graphs and traffic forecasts during disruptions. Ensure compliance with crew work rules and agreements, escalating issues to ODM and Driver Leaders when necessary. Support service quality through crew and rolling stock adjustments. Respond to operational requests from crews, Terminal Control Centre (TCC), and ODM.

Information Controller Responsibilities:



Monitor rail operations using control systems and maintain communication with Controllers and Supervisors. Identify causes of delays and failures affecting services. Communicate updates to relevant departments and external partners during disruptions. Log delays and schedule changes in the Information System. Assign rake numbers and manage platform changes. Send SMS updates on event progress. Maintain compliance with safety documentation and keep digital records up to date.

Qualifications and Experience



Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent. Previous experience working in a railway environment and/or control centre is beneficial. Proficiency in English is required, with the

ability to communicate in French to an intermediate level (B2 or above) is essential.*
A valid driving licence is essential to facilitate commuting to the workplace in either the UK or France.

What to expect



Recruitment Process:




Given the nature of this role, the process will include an initial French language competency test (an informal conversation via Teams), a first-stage interview, Psychometric (Safety Competency) Testing, and a visit to one of our Railway Control Centres (RCC's) either in the UK or France.


In addition, successful candidates will need to pass the medical standard required for this role.


The proposed start date for training to commence is

March 2026.
