Job Title: Crime Reader/Auditor

Based at: Police Headquarters, Bridgend


Scale: Scale 4/5


Salary 27,204.00 - 32,613.00 per annum (pro rata)


Duration: Permanent


Hours : 18.5 hours


Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday on a rotational shift pattern of 10 hour shift duration, including Public Holidays and Critical Dates.

We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Crime Reader Auditor in our Crime Integrity Team. Could you be who we are looking for?


About the team/Department you will be joining:


The role is part-time and based at the Public Service Centre, South Wales Police Headquarters, Bridgend. However, the role is flexible and can include working from home.


The Crime Integrity Team ensures that all reported crimes within the force area are recorded correctly, and the appropriate outcome applied, having responsibility for reviewing all crimes reported within South Wales Police, ensuring accuracy and ethical recording, in line with Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR).


About the role and your key responsibilities:


The role of a Crime Reader/Auditor is an interesting and rewarding role, involving auditing and reviewing reported crimes to ensure accurate data is submitted to the Home Office regarding crime figures within the communities of South Wales.


You will be required to review criminal investigations and make decisions in relation to reclassification or cancellation of crimes in accordance with the rules.


You will be required to apply outcomes and finalise recorded crimes, in accordance with Home Office Counting Rules.


What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:


We are keen to hear from you if you have good knowledge of criminal legislation and the application of Home Office Counting Rules (HOCR), the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS) and National Standard of Incident Recording (NSIR).


You will need to have effective decision-making skills, able to review requests based on knowledge and evidence.
