As our team expands, we are looking for a committed and experienced legal professional to lead our Criminal Injuries department.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Criminal Injuries Manager with a strong background in handling CICA claims to lead our team. You will be responsible for overseeing a department of file handlers and assistants, ensuring the highest standards of casework, compliance, and client care. This is a leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and is ready to drive performance, mentoring, and quality assurance across the team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of paralegals and file handlers dealing with CICA claims
Manage a limited caseload of complex or high-value claims
Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal quality standards
Provide legal guidance on complex or disputed matters and escalate where necessary
Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings, and formal appraisals
Deliver training and mentoring to support professional development
Ensure timely file progression, accuracy of records, and effective use of case management systems
Stay current with legal developments, CICA procedural changes, and best practices
Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of departmental processes
Person Specification
Essential
Proven experience handling CICA claims
Strong knowledge of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme
Prior leadership, supervision, or team management experience in a legal setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High levels of organisation and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while fostering a positive and productive team environment
Confident using digital case management systems and Microsoft Office
Desirable
Experience implementing process improvements or compliance initiatives
Coaching or training background
