UKLST is a trusted provider of high-quality language services across the UK. We are actively seeking experienced and certified Croatian Language Interpreters to join our professional panel and deliver essential communication support within the UK public sector.

Job Summary

The Croatian Interpreter will be responsible for providing accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation between English and Croatian, primarily supporting clients in UK public service settings, including the NHS, courts, police, and local government. This role requires strict adherence to professional ethics and UK legal/public sector protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Professional Interpretation:

Deliver seamless, meaning-for-meaning interpretation using consecutive, simultaneous, and sight-translation techniques in formal and sensitive situations (e.g., medical consultations, legal interviews, social services meetings).

Ethical Compliance:

Strict adherence to the professional Code of Conduct for PublicService Interpreters, ensuring complete impartiality and absolute confidentiality (including GDPR compliance).

Specialized Terminology:

Maintain deep knowledge and accurate use of specialized vocabulary, particularly legal, medical, and administrative terminology relevant to the UK system.

Cultural Competence:

Provide necessary cultural brokerage to ensure the intent and context of the communication are fully understood by all parties.

Administrative Duties:

Complete accurate work logs, time sheets, and assignment feedback forms in a timely manner.

Flexibility:

Be available for various assignment types, including on-site attendance, telephone interpreting (OPI), and video interpreting (VRI), potentially across flexible hours.

Qualifications and Experience (UK Specific)Required

Bilingual Fluency:

Exceptional fluency (native or near-native level) in both Croatian and English (spoken, written, and comprehension).

Professional Qualification (plus point):

hold or be actively pursuing a recognized UK interpreting qualification.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: 15.00-20.00 per hour
