Thank you for your interest in the position of Curriculum Leader of Science at Abersychan School. This is an extremely important position in our school, as we aim to improve provision and raise standards in Science. The Science Department consists of strong teachers and requires strong leadership to secure good outcomes for students in the first instance, before becoming excellent! The Assistant Headteacher Pedagogy will work closely with the Curriculum Leader of Science to ensure that teaching and learning is at least consistently good across the department.



Abersychan School is an 11-16 comprehensive school which ensures that children of all abilities fulfil their potential. We are a school that is committed to ensuring that all our young people are happy, successful and ready for their lives beyond school. Our expectations and standards are high. We have a committed and caring staff who are dedicated to ensuring that each child achieves their personal best. The school currently has 736 students, 48 teachers and 46 members of support staff. The school serves an area of socio-economic disadvantage and 30% of students are entitled to free school meals.



The school's aims are delivered through a strong pastoral system, a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, musical and extra-curricular activities. Students are happy, hard-working and positive about the school. They genuinely are an asset to our community and are incredibly friendly. The school has been widely commended for making significant improvements to behaviour management and we are striving to secure the highest standards through an outstanding provision.
