We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Customer Accounts Controller to join our team in Gateshead. You will be joining a historic, family-owned business that is built on quality, service, and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in credit control with proficiency in the suit of Microsoft 365. As the Customer Accounts Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of customer accounts and outstanding debt.
Responsibilities include:
Managing Credit Control ledgers for various Field Sales Managers
Contacting customers regarding outstanding balances and resolving queries promptly
Producing weekly updates and communications for the management team
Ensuring all customer records are accurate and up to date
Liaising with internal departments to resolve account-related issues
Investigate customer queries effectively and efficiently via telephone and / or email
Minimising overdue debt and maintaining strong cash flow
Investigate and reconcile historic cash postings that remain unallocated & to try and reconcile the account successfully.
Identifying potential bad debt and report to the Customer Accounts Manager making recommendations and producing admin for credit notes / write-offs or escalation to third parties
Provide Cover for bank statement import, allocation of debit & credit payments and preparation of the direct debits.
General Admin duties
To cover Customer Accounts Manager / Customer Accounts Controller role functions in their absence/if they are busy
Cover for the Cash Office.
About You
GCSEs 5-7 (A-C) Maths and English
Minimum experience 1-2 years in a similar role
Excellent communication and financial administration skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to correctly follow complex financial procedures.
Good understanding of financial payment processes and procedures.
Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent telephone manner
Ability to work on own initiative and confident in ability
Self-motivated and resilient
Accurate whilst being able to meet and exceed deadlines
Flexible and willing to adapt working pattern depending on operational demands
