Company Overview:

We are a well-established Customs Agent based in the Dover area, providing a full range of import/export services across road, sea, and air freight. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced

Customs Declarant

to join our dedicated customs clearance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit accurate customs declarations for imports and exports in compliance with HMRC and UK Border Force regulations. Liaise with clients, customs authorities, and other stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure efficient customs clearance. Work with a variety of declaration software platforms (e.g., CDS, Chief, Descartes, or similar). Maintain accurate records of all declarations and documentation for audit and compliance purposes. Provide advice and support to clients on customs-related matters including procedures, origin, and incoterms. Coordinate timely and efficient shipment clearance.

Requirements:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a customs declarant or customs clearance role. Strong knowledge of UK customs procedures and regulations. Proficient with customs declaration software (e.g., CDS, Descartes, ASM Sequoia, or similar). Familiarity with incoterms, tariff codes, and import/export documentation. Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Knowledge of port systems (CNS, Destin8) is a plus. Experience with freight forwarding processes is an advantage.
