Job Description

We are a fast-growing international logistics and freight forwarding company specializing in cross-border shipping, customs compliance, and efficient time critical deliveries. We support clients across multiple industries by ensuring their shipments move smoothly, legally, and on time.

We are now seeking an

experienced Import / Export Customs Specialist

to manage customs clearance, trade compliance, and documentation across international shipments.

Key Responsibilities

:

Prepare, review, and submit all customs documentation for imports and exports. Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international trade regulations. Classify goods using the correct HS codes and calculate duties, taxes, and fees. Coordinate with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and carriers. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements. Advise internal teams and customers on import/export compliance requirements. Keep accurate shipment and compliance records. Support audits, record-keeping, and compliance reporting. Monitor and resolve customs delays, document discrepancies, and clearance issues.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare, review and submit import and export customs declarations using CDS. Ensure compliance with UK customs legislation, trade agreements, VAT, duty rules, and customs procedures. Manage customs documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and preference certificates. Liaise with HMRC, customers, shipping partners, and internal teams on customs queries. Monitor and resolve customs delays, document discrepancies, and clearance issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK customs policies and regulatory changes (e.g. CDS transition, post-Brexit trade rules). Support audits, record-keeping, and compliance reporting. Advise on tariff classification, customs valuation, INCOTERMS, and duty relief schemes (e.g. IPR/OPR, RGR).

Key Skills & Experience



Minimum 3-5 years' experience in customs clearance or international trade compliance. Strong knowledge of UK Customs rules, HMRC requirements, and trade systems. Experience using CDS and Sequoia. Understanding of tariff codes, commodity classification, and customs procedures. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage time effectively. Professional qualification (e.g. BIFA, IOE&IT) is desirable but not essential.

Pay: 38,000.00-42,000.00 per year
