Role Purpose

The Cutter is responsible for accurately cutting fabric or leather components for upholstery production in line with product specifications, quality standards and production targets. The role plays a key part in ensuring materials are cut efficiently with minimal waste and prepared for sewing and upholstery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately cut fabric, leather or other upholstery materials according to templates, cutting plans or digital markers. Read and interpret job sheets, production orders and cutting specifications. Prepare materials by checking for flaws, stretch direction, shading or pattern matching. Use cutting tools and equipment such as hand shears, straight knives, band knives, cutting tables and automated cutting machines. Ensure material usage is optimised to reduce waste. Check cut pieces for accuracy, quality, and consistency. Label and bundle cut components ready for sewing. Maintain clean and organised work area in line with 5S standards. Work to daily production targets, ensuring efficiency and workflow is maintained. Work collaboratively with CAD and other production teams to support manufacturing flow.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

Good practical skills and attention to detail. Ability to understand cutting instructions, templates and production requirements. Confident handling cutting tools and equipment safely. Ability to work to production targets. Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

Experience in upholstery or furniture manufacturing. Knowledge of fabric/leather types, stretch directions and pattern matching. Experience using automated cutting machinery
