JOB DESCRIPTION: CYLCH MEITHRIN ASSISTANT

Qualifications

Dependent upon the circumstances of the Cylch (see CIW Regulations), to take care of children the Cylch MeithrinAssistant should have recognised early years' experience and qualification at Level 2 at least, for example:

CACHE Certificate in Early Years Care and Education (Welsh medium)

NVQ Level 2 in Early Years Care and Education / Children's Care, Learning and Development

Level 2 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development

Another relevant qualification

Welsh Language

You should be fluent in Welsh or a learner who has attained a high level of proficiency in Welsh

Duties

The Assistant, through the Leader, will be answerable to the Cylch Meithrin Management Committee for discharging the following duties:

To collaborate with the Management Committee and the Leader to help to implement:

the guidelines and policies of the Cylch Meithrin in every activity

the principles and aims of the Foundation Phase in the Cylch's activities

to collaborate in the work of complying with all the registration regulations of the Care Inspectorate Wales

to ensure that the Cylch's room and facilities (including the outdoor space) are attractive and welcoming and comply with all the health and safety requirements

to ensure that the resources are accessible and are used indoors and outdoors to promote linguistic, mathematical, physical, creative, social etc. skills

to contribute towards play activities in the open air for the children, even when the Cylch does not have a designated outdoor play area

to ensure that the Welsh language is used fully in every activity

to help to ensure that learning areas which reflect the Foundation Phase are provided for the children to promote their development and learning

to contribute to the process of planning the Cylch'swork and activities in the short and long term

to ensure that children with additional needs have full equal opportunities

to contribute to the process of observing the children and recording their progress

to ensure that the equipment is put away neatly after each session and that the room is clean and tidy

to attend any training relevant to the post

to undertake any additional duty relevant to the post in accordance with the guidance of the Management Committee.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21-13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 17.5 per week
