We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data Team. You'll be a key member of an Agile data squad, working closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Data Architects to deliver trusted, high-quality data products that underpin Asda's strategic priorities.


You'll play a pivotal role in turning data into actionable insights, while also championing great data quality, that drive decisions across the business. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Asda to uncover data needs, shape fit-for-purpose solutions, and enable smarter, faster decisions. This is a great opportunity to work on high-impact projects, drive data innovation, and play a central role in advancing a data-first culture across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing



Documenting and analysing business requirements and data flows to inform analytics and reporting solutions. Collaborating closely with data engineering teams to translate business needs into technical specifications and supporting solution design. Investigating and documenting data sources, assessing data quality and availability, and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. Creating and maintaining key project artefacts such as data dictionaries, source mappings, and design documentation. Validating data throughout the development lifecycle to ensure alignment with business needs. Supporting the adoption and effective use of business intelligence and self-service analytics tools, empowering users to make data-driven decisions. Supporting the Data Product management team to work with business stakeholders aligning requirements with business need and supporting conversations around prioritisation. Working closely with Data Architecture teams to define and build correct data models to support efficient reporting solutions. Participating in Agile ceremonies and ways of working, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Working closely with Asda's data governance team to support activities to monitor and improve data quality across your domain. Identifying opportunities to improve processes and contributing to the exploration of new technologies and data capabilities that align with Asda's data strategy.

What You'll Bring



Proven experience in data analysis, with the ability to interpret complex information and deliver meaningful insights. Advanced SQL knowledge Experience with Databricks is a plus, though not essential. Familiarity with relational databases and data structures. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools; experience with BI platforms such as Power BI is a plus. Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences. Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and ways of working. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences. A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for driving innovation and continuous improvement within data environments.
