Curriculum Development Responsibilities across of all campuses
To lead in designing, developing and producing learning and teaching material and deliver either across a range of modules or within a subject area.
Review on a regular basis course content and materials, updating when required.
Develop Scheme of work, lessons plans and resources to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching courses in accordance with the Academy's strategy, policy and procedures
The Course leader will rely on the Regional Academy lead of each campuses to ensure that curriculum are followed in all the various campuses
To monitor course design and implementation, proposing incremental change if required, and leading course validation, revalidation process including writing and collating course documentation
Teaching and Learning Responsibilities across campus
Develop and apply appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
Ensure that course design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the Academy and other stake holders eg awarding organisations
Develop to ensure that teaching and learning follows the Scheme of work, lessons plans which align with the quality standards set by the awarding organisations and other stake holders
To ensure that student numbers commensurate with Academic Staff numbers to ensure that high quality of student experience
The Course leader will rely on the Regional Academy lead of each campuses to ensure that the appropriate teaching and learning techniques adopted by the Academy id followed in all campuses curriculum are followed in all the various campuses
The course leader has a critical role in ensuring the quality of the student experience.
Assessment Responsibility Across all Campuses
On behalf of the Head of School and working closely with the tutors of all campuses and the Quality Manager for the leadership, development and management of the assessment policy and practices within the Higher education School and in promoting an inclusive approach to student education. These include:
Work collaboratively with the Quality Manager to implement strategies for ensuring principles of academic integrity are clearly understood by students and to ensure the application of Academy and awarding procedures and academic malpractice in line with Academy
Provide effective leadership to ensure that all Academic staff is aware of, and comply with, all deadlines for the setting of assessments and the return of marks, monitoring the timely implementation of the assessment processes.
To lead the internal quality assurance of the HND Courses in terms of internally verifying assessment feedback to ensure that high standards are maintained and that the standards meet the benchmark set by the awarding organisations
To train and support all tutors across the various campuses to understand the internal quality assurance processes in assessment s and to ensure that assessment feedback meets standard set by the awarding organisations
Management of External Examiners Report and Recommendations
Work collaboratively with HE Quality Manager to manage the Academy's arrangements with external examiners effectively and to ensure that the external examiners receive accurate and timely information and documentation
To support, and train academic staff to be able to meet any standards recommended by external examiners
To review call delivery periodically to ensure that, the curriculum changes, external examiners' recommendations are implemented across all the campuses
Work collaboratively with HE Quality manager to ensure that the Acdemy's Exam and Assessment Boards and sub-committees are managed effectively and held in accordance with Academy's policy
To oversee the School's Code of Practice on Assessment, to ensure that it is accurate and readily available to all staff and students.
Represent the Academy in discussions of, and consultations on, the development of assessment practices and frameworks
To undertake general administrative duties as required to support the course, including the organisation of course boards with HE Quality Manager
General Course Management
To plan and implement an effective induction programme for students.
To monitor and raise any issues with the organisation of modules to include timetabling arrangements, the course annual assessment schedule, and attendance
Help to ensure that teams within the department work together.
Participate to help resolve conflicts within and between teams
Provide first line support for colleagues, referring them to sources of further help if required
Resolve problems affecting the delivery of courses within own educational program and in accordance with regulations.
Spotting opportunities for strategic development of employer partnerships or appropriate areas of activity and contributing to the development of such ideas
Be involved through various routes in departmental level strategic planning and contribute to the Academy's strategic planning processes.
Plan and deliver research and other modules within the constraints of resources available.
Take responsibility for conducting risk assessments and reducing hazards during industrial/company visits.
Marketing of the course/Staff and student recruitment
To be responsible for maintaining and providing accurate course related information which will inform effective marketing and promotion of the course
To provide course leadership and co-ordination of course related activities in relation to recruitment, retention, progression, achievement and student experience
To provide input to the planning process for student numbers.
Quality of Student Experience
To be responsible for monitoring and reporting requirements for the course in relation to recruitment, progression, retention and National Student Survey criteria
The Course Leader conduct Induction and course reviews ( by both students and tutors) in order to use such information to improve upon the course
The course leader conduct teaching Observations/ peer to peer to observation in order to ensure that tutors are delivering teaching which align with the Blended learning programme and that opportunities are given to students to develop their skills.
How Course Leader Manages the Individual Campus
The Course Leader manages all the campuses vis the Regional Academic Leader for each campus
Each Academic Leader is independent of one another but takes all instructions from the course leader
The course Leader organises Weekly meeting with the Regional Academic Leads (eg Assessment Planning, attendance, assignment submissions, preparation for students induction, students who are at risks of withdrawal) Agreed actions are then implemented across all campuses
The Course Leader carries out review with the support of the regional Academic on canvas to identify how feedback is being given to students.
The course leader with the support of the regional Academic Leads carries out cross campuses internal verification of students work to ensure uniformity of feedback (both Summative and Formative)
