. JOB PURPOSE The post holder is responsible for providing administrative support in the form of data coordination and associated administrative duties, for a collaborative working project (CWP) between the Non-surgical Oncology (NSO) Breast service and Novartis Pharmaceuticals. This Collaborative Working Project aims to optimise workforce capacity within the early breast cancer and advanced breast cancer oncology services. The post will work alongside a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Band 7 Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), and the wider Non-surgical Oncology clinical and administrative workforce.
Through the implementation of this CWP, the aim is to achieve the following: Safeguard the future of the Breast Cancer Service at Leeds Teaching Hospital. Create a map of the early breast cancer and advanced breast cancer oncology services using established Process Mapping Methodologies to conduct a pathway mapping exercise, identify potential areas for improvement and integration of the new roles into the relevant aspects of the service. Map the care pathways across early breast cancer and advanced breast cancer oncology; redesigning them in a cohesive way to engage and upskill non-medical prescribers in a most efficient way Ensure early breast cancer and advanced breast cancer oncology patients are seen, reviewed and treated in an efficient and timely manner. Establish a protocol for the stratification of patients into specific clinics manually or through the support of an online symptom monitoring system using ePROMs (electronic Patient Reported Outcomes Measures) for selected stable patient populations to monitor treatments and improve Patient-Initiated Follow-Up.
Identify patient treatment pathways suitable for ePROMs and implement a minimum of one pathway to evaluate impact through audit and data collection with a view to implementing the full complement of appropriate therapy pathways. Specifically, develop ePROMs-supported protocols and pathways in early breast cancer, pilot them in the service in Leeds and share the protocols with Non-Surgical Oncology service reconfiguration programme to provide a standardised approach across the region. Reduce unwarranted variation in care quality and implement a cohesive treatment pathway in the North of the WYYAT Group through the development of protocols that can be shared and adopted throughout North WYAAT, utilising this CWP as an exemplar for WYAAT. The post holder will be responsible for data collection and database entry across all aspects of the collaborative working project.
The post holder will work closely with the clinical lead for the project to collect data and will maintain database activity and analyse data as required. The post holder must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including medical and nursing staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team with possible patient interaction. The post holder will be required to understand the key features of the role and understand the imperative need for confidentiality and discretion at all times. .
JOB DIMENSIONS The post holder will work closely with the Band 7 CNS or ACP to ensure the outcomes of the CWP are achieved within the 12-month time-frame of the project. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all areas provide relevant information to support the data submission and is responsible for the systems to enable data capture and submission to take place. The post holder is expected to meet all reporting and outcome deadlines consistent with the aims of the CWP. With good education you will have effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills to meet timelines and complete tasks.
Attention to detail and computer literacy will be essential. As a team player you will be responsive, efficient and motivated. The post holder will be managed not supervised in carrying out all aspects of daily role and will be expected to work independently and autonomously with freedom to interpret data and act alone. .
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY The data coordinator will: Create and manage an appropriate database to collect all data required to support the collaborative working project. Evaluate and interpret data before data entry Support the creation and implementation of the separated early and advanced clinics Use data collected to develop robust SOPs to ensure patients are allocated to the most appropriate clinic and the most appropriate clinician Manage patient appointments ensuring patients are reviewed at the appropriate early and advanced breast cancer clinics, collect and collate data on reasons for cancellations, and manage subsequent appointment schedules Collect data to support the coordination of necessary assessments, appointments or investigations to ensure the clinical team has the relevant information for clinical decision making and or to fast-track people back into the system if required Provide basic non-medical telephone advice and refer on or signpost to other specific sources of support i.e. Welfare Benefits Advice team; Patient Support Groups, Maggies centre. Collect data to track this activity Be involved in the service responsibility providing information to patient and relaying information to clinicians Process routine correspondence Attendance at appropriate team meetings, as well as milestone meetings with Novartis, as required The post holder will be required to deliver statistical information in at local meetings.
