DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION





The Strategy, Policy & Insight (Function) are trusted thought-leaders bringing expert strategy, policy, market & audience insight - challenging and advising the business to drive delivery of Channel 4's strategy and remit.

The purpose of the new centralised Audience Insights (Subfunction) is to be independent thought leaders at the heart of Channel 4's creative and commercial decision-making, bringing a single source of truth and big picture perspective, challenging and advising the business to ensure profitable business growth through the use of data.



Within the new centralised operating Insights model (where all audience and market insight in C4 is centralised into the Audience Insight team), each C-Suite Leader (CEO, Chief Content Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and the Exec Committee as a body) and their Senior Leaders have a dedicated Insight Business Partner (BP) who prioritizes and agrees their Insight requirements, aligned to the strategic C4 pillars. BP Analysts directly source available analysis and where additional, bespoke research or specialised analysis is required, the BP will commission this from the relevant Specialist Lead, managing jointly the presentation back of recommendations to the C-Suite Leader.



JOB PURPOSE





The Data Enablement Developer works as part of a small team responsible for the enablement of colleagues across the Audience Insight teams with the data, models, support and tools they need to responsibly leverage Channel 4's data for business benefit, providing them a reporting and self-serve analytical toolkit.



The role will liaise with stakeholders and peer groups across the Audience Insight teams, Technology and wider organisation to support and deliver cross-function work-streams that enable data and insight strategy and roadmap, playing a supportive role in embedding Channel 4's Data Community.

This role will contribute to the portfolio of Tools & Methods used in the wider Insight function & the user education programme to ensure effective deployment of these tools to analysts in the Insight function as well as multiple leaders and functional specialists across C4 where self-serve tools are available).



KEY RESPONSIBILTIES


Help build the suite of reporting and analysis Tools & Methods (e.g. Reporting Dashboards / Apps, Data Modelling, KPI Tree, multiple tools for social/web applications, Data Robot etc) used across all Insight activities. Working with Reporting and Analytics Teams, reviewing innovative tools and support business cases for acquisition of tools and data sets for the Insights function. Support the design of future data models, contributing to single source of truth models for Audience insight teams, working collaboratively with the Technology team to progress from PoC, through Design, Development, Test and Production stages of the development cycle through an effective, agile, hub/spoke operating model. Assist with production and cascade of relevant training sessions on our toolkit across the Insight function to ensure maximum impact Actively contribute to data communities within Channel 4, fostering the sharing of ideas and practices, and driving cross-function collaboration.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE





ESSENTIAL
Experience (min 3 years) in managing a large volume of reports and processes, confident obtaining, querying, and efficiently modelling large datasets (SQL, Azure or equivalent) for visualisation and capable of manipulating and transforming these datasets to ingest into a model (e.g. through Alteryx, SQL or equivalent). Creating the data visualisation model architecture to house the data ensuring this is appropriately built to enhance performance. Visualisation capabilities in PowerBI or similar General knowledge / background in data and analytical processes Strong communication & presentation skills with the ability to present complex and detailed recommendations clearly and succinctly to stakeholders Good interpersonal and collaboration skills Excellent ability to deal with data complexity and proven track record of working with technology data teams to drive a clear route to data integrity & foundation Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities, manage timescales and delivery across the team often under pressure Autonomy and freedom to operate within agreed framework aligned to strategic objectives and prioritised activity roadmap Develops insightful points of view through detailed analysis and is comfortable turning ambiguity into action / solutions



DESIRABLE
Sector experience in a media or broadcast company including exposure to product & viewer data (ideally social /web based)
