We're looking for a Data Platform Engineer to maintain and evolve NHBC's cloud-based data platform. You'll apply DataOps principles to automate, transform, and deploy data across Snowflake, data build tools, and other tools, ensuring trusted, secure, and scalable access for the business.
Reporting to the Senior Data Engineering Manager, you'll bridge engineering, analytics, architecture, and governance teams, supporting end to end data flows from ingestion to deployment, and helping deliver impactful data products.
What you'll do
Design, manage, and monitor data platform components across Snowflake, data build tools, Informatica, and related tools
Apply DataOps best practices (CI/CD, modular pipelines, automated testing) to improve platform efficiency
Develop and maintain robust, well-documented dbt models and transformations
Optimise platform performance, storage, and compute while managing costs
Configure access controls, roles, and security policies in collaboration with InfoSec
Troubleshoot data pipelines and coordinate across analytics, engineering, and DevOps
Contribute to platform roadmap planning and technical design decisions
Ensure observability, auditability, and resilience of data flows
Stay up to date with Snowflake, data build tools, and DataOps tooling
What you'll bring
Experience managing and optimising cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred)
Hands on experience with DataOps/DevOps workflows (CI/CD, version control, automation)
Strong SQL, pipeline tuning, and troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with data build tools, platform observability, Python, shell scripting, and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform)
Understanding of modern data workflows: modelling, testing, deployment, monitoring
Experience in a regulated industry (insurance, finance, housing)
Exposure to Airflow, Fivetran, or AWS data services
Collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused approach
