Join us as a Data Privacy Legal Counsel VP at Barclays. The Data Privacy Legal Team provides data privacy legal advice, support and risk management to the bank, including supporting its business units, middle and back office, international and group functions as well as liaising with legal colleagues across the bank. The primary purpose of the role is to provide support and expert legal advice on data privacy and related matters.
To be successful as a Data Privacy Legal Counsel VP, you should have:
Qualified Lawyer, with data privacy experience and an interest in developing expertise in this area
Experience gained in either private practice or in-house
The ability to work independently and flexibly in order to identify risk and to plan for change wrought by developing regulation
Experience with contracts, negotiations, and drafting
Litigation experience
Other highly valued skills include:
Financial Services experience (desirable but not essential)
Broad data privacy expertise including in respect to: (i) data subject access requests; and (ii) international transfers of personal data.
Ability to adapt and be comfortable working across different levels of the organisation.

This role will be based in Glasgow.
Purpose of the role
To help ensure that the Cyber, Data, IP & Emerging Tech Legal activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities.
