The role
The Actuarial Solutions Data Architect is a critical role in shaping the future of our actuarial data landscape. This role will be responsible for designing and implementing the data architecture that supports actuarial processes, enabling efficient and accurate delivery of data. This includes understanding current data challenges, defining future data needs, and collaborating with the wider Finance architecture team to develop and implement a robust and scalable actuarial data architecture aligned with the target operating model.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the overall actuarial data architecture roadmap, aligned with Finance strategy and target operating model.
Design and document data models, data flows, and data integration patterns for actuarial systems and processes.
Help to drive an improved data governance framework for actuarial data, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate data technologies and tools to support the actuarial data architecture.
Collaborate with data engineers to build and deploy data pipelines and ETL processes to support business requirements
Work with actuarial teams to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Partner with IT and Finance stakeholders to ensure data solutions conform to wider Phoenix Group frameworks and Finance objectives.
Provide technical guidance and support to actuarial and other stakeholders on data-related matters.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
Extensive experience in data architecture in financial services, preferably within life insurance.
Strong understanding and experience of actuarial processes and data requirements
Proficiency in data modelling techniques and tools (e.g., ER diagrams, UML).
Experience with data warehousing, ETL, and data integration technologies.
Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Strong leadership and experience developing teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable:
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Azure Data Factory).
Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence use in the finance data domain
Familiarity with actuarial systems.
