Job Description


Reporting to the Head of Analytics, the Data Solutions Specialist is a key role in the Analytics team. This small but dynamic project team is responsible for providing accurate and timely market, process and audience data to enable insight-driven decision-making throughout the business. The team manages an ever-evolving data warehouse and suite of automated Tableau dashboards and reporting. Our projects address commercial and business priorities.

We are looking for a team player with the experience and technical skills to take responsibility for the management of our data warehouse and its ongoing development. This role will also be an essential part of the project team by creating the underlying architecture, data queries and views pivotal to our dashboards, as well as finding innovative and appropriate data solutions and some dashboarding tasks.

This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for working with data and the ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-data experts. Adaptability to respond to the company\'s shifting needs is essential. The first project you can expect to work on is the completion of our database migration, where you\'ll be largely responsible for building our operational database.

Key tasks include:

  • Managing and expanding our data warehouse, including data mapping and architecture, data shaping, transformations and data quality assurance
  • Developing complex SQL queries and views
  • Handling data transfers and ensuring regular maintenance and update of data pipelines
  • Monitoring daily database performance, conducting troubleshooting and proactively resolving issues
  • Carrying out query optimization, data optimization and connection optimization
  • Integrating and adapting new data sources in line with company priorities and projects
  • Developing suitable data solutions as required
  • Document updates, decisions and data solutions
  • Maintaining, improving and contributing to our suite of Tableau dashboards and automated solutions.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and knowledge (essential skills/knowledge/experience):
  • Experience in a data-oriented role such as a Data Engineer, Database Administrator, ETL Developer, or a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of using SQL, preferably Snowflake ANSI SQL and MS SQL - Python and basic Microsoft/Linux scripting would also be advantageous
  • Proven experience with SQL including working knowledge of pipeline management, data architecture, data governance and optimization
  • Clear record of problem-solving capabilities, with robust analytical skills for data-driven decision-making
  • Creating and maintaining relevant documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, relevance and quality
  • Strong communication skills including stakeholder management and the ability to present and interpret data to non-data audiences
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to contribute ideas
  • Ability to think both practically and visionary about applications and sources of data -demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility in delivering solutions
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite, especially Excel (including formulas, functions, pivots and macros/VBA).
We\'d love it if you had (desirable skills/knowledge/experience):
  • An interest or experience in publishing, reading, or the contemporary book market
  • Experience in a commercial industry or department/commercial awareness, with the ability to work both at a detailed and strategic level
  • Experience with the following technologies would be advantageous: APIs, Tableau Desktop, Snowflake, Matillion and AWS environment
This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.

Salary starting from: \xc2\xa340,000 onwards
