Job Purpose
To lead and manage the day to day operations of the south Woodham Ferrers Day Center. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, support and social engagement service for elderly and vulnerable adults. The Day Center Manager is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes independence, safeguarding, well being and social inclusion. This role involves coordinating staff and volunteers, managing resources and ensuing compliance with all relevant heath, safety and care standards to enhance the quality of life of all service users.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery & Quality
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate daily activities and care programs tailored to the individual needs and preferences of service users.
o Deliver a varied programme of stimulating activities including arts and crafts, music and movement, reminiscence sessions, light exercise, group games, and community outings.
Organize seasonal celebrations, cultural events, and themed activity days to enhance social engagement and enjoyment.
Facilitate visits from external entertainers, therapists, volunteers, and health professionals to enrich the day center experience.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans, activity logs, and individual support records in line with best practices.
Ensure high standards of food hygiene and safety are maintained at all times to prevent contamination and safeguard clients' health
Coordinate all logistical arrangements for client transportation, including timely pick-up and drop-off from their respective locations, ensuring safety, punctuality, and comfort
Ensure compliance with local authority requirements and standards.
Monitor and maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and safeguarding.
Promote service user dignity, choice, independence, and inclusion throughout service delivery.
Seek regular feedback from clients, families, and staff to support continuous improvement of care and activities
Staff Management
Recruit, train, supervise, and support staff and volunteers.
Conduct performance appraisals and support staff development.
Prepare rotas and ensure adequate staffing levels
Client Care
Conduct assessments and reviews for new and existing clients.
Liaise with families, social workers, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
Promote independence, dignity, and social inclusion for service users.
Administrative & Financial
Manage budgets, petty cash, invoicing, and funding reports.
Maintain accurate records, care plans, risk assessments, and incident reports.
Prepare reports for regulatory bodies and stakeholders as required.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or support safeguarding efforts.
Ensure all staff adhere to GDPR, equality, and health & safety legislation
Essential Criteria
Experience:
Minimum
2-3 years
of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within adult social care. Experience working with vulnerable adults, especially those with dementia, disabilities, or complex needs. Proven track record of leading teams, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance standards.
Qualifications:
NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care (or working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Adult Social Care). Safeguarding Adults Level 2 or 3 certification. First Aid, Manual Handling, and Infection Control training.
Leadership & Communication
: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage complex challenges, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Operational Competence:
Strong IT literacy with excellent organizational and administrative skills, ensuring efficient management of day-to-day operations.
