Responsible for: Support Workers, Cleaner, Cook & SWEP Bank Staff
Hours:
Standard hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This role may include unsociable working hours, including weekends and night shifts during times of Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) activation. This role will also be expected to cover shifts where no other cover can be arranged for instance in the event of staff sickness or holiday.
Requirements: Due to the nature of the clients we work with we can only accept applicants who are 18+ years old.
This job is a fixed term contract for 1 year due to current funding. However, as a charity we believe there will be a continued need for the position after this time and so will endeavour to fund the position after this time.
Job Summary
This is an exciting role to work as part of our day centre provision providing support to homeless and vulnerable adults who use our service. This role comprises of working with a small number of clients who have been identified as needing intensive support due to: their multiple and complex needs, risk, longevity of using the service or entrenched homelessness. Alongside support work the role will involve the management of support workers and staff as well as ensuring the day to day running of the day centre.
As the Day Centre Manager you will provide support to the Charity Services Manager in the day to day running of the day centre. This includes specialist support work, building compliance, adherence with policies and procedures and supporting with improvements to the service. You will manage staff to, and support clients to maintain independence and to thrive within their communities, by offering practical assistance, support, advice, advocacy, coaching and encouragement to enable households to resettle and to prevent homelessness. You will need to manage the risk and needs of these individuals through assessment and management plans. You will be highly knowledgeable and capable in subjects such as housing and homeless legislation, benefits, and welfare, safeguarding and risk management. Furthermore, you will have knowledge or experience working with services across North Somerset and neighbouring counties.
Personal Specification - Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of support services, accommodation providers and statutory services within Weston-Super-Mare, North Somerset and the surrounding counties.
Knowledge around the multiple and complex needs our clients may be facing such as: substance misuse, mental health, physical health, offending history, homelessness, experiencing poverty, benefits and care needs.
Experience with de-escalation and conflict management.
IT literacy including Microsoft programmes. Experience using case management systems, particularly InForm/SalesForce.
Administrative skills.
Personal Specification - Experience
Management experience within substance misuse, homelessness, criminal justice or mental health sector.
Experience working with clients with multiple and complex needs such as: substance misuse, mental health, physical health, offending history, homelessness, experiencing poverty and care needs.
Experience working in a multi-agency approach with other services.
Main Responsibilities - General
Ensure the smooth running of the day centre. Making sure all services are running effectively and take independent action where they are not.
Support the Charity Services Manager in fundraising and donation acquisition. Attending talks or meetings in support of this.
Be a point of contact for all queries relating to the day centre.
Be a main point of contact when the Charity Services Manager is absent.
Ensure all day centre services have staffing cover.
Identifying areas of improvement, grants or fundraising to be developed by the Charity Services Manager.
Manage a small caseload of high needs clients.
Main Responsibilities - Management
Providing support, leadership and guidance to staff within the day centre.
Monitor client services KPIs and investigate any issues arising, reporting to the Charity Services Manager where appropriate.
Working on staff development and performance management.
Support staff to manage volunteers.
Ensure the day centre has effective resources to run effectively and take action where there is not. Including ensuring there is enough volunteers, food stock, clothing stock, staffing cover.
Main Responsibilities - Support Work & Clients
Working with a small caseload of clients who have been identified with the Charity Services Manager as clients with prolonged and substantial needs who require intensive support.
Complete risk assessments for clients who are identified as being high risk.
Attend or instigate and chair multi-agency and safeguarding meetings for high-risk clients.
Provide guidance to support workers of actions to be undertaken with clients.
Complete incident reports and serious incident reports on behalf of the service to provide to the Board of Trustees.
Obtain and use feedback from clients to improve service delivery and identify areas for development alongside the Charity Services Manager.
Compliance
Ensure compliance procedures are being followed within the day centre including building compliance.
Be responsible for safeguarding within the day centre with the support of the DSL and DDSL.
Ensure policies and procedures and being followed by staff, volunteers and clients within the day centre and take action where they are not.
Be responsible for booking annual service checks on equipment within the day centre.
Be responsible for the maintenance of the day centre, working with contractors and requesting essential maintenance.
Ensure all staff and volunteers have undertaken the necessary training for their role.
