Are you an experienced Debt Advisor looking for a role where your expertise truly changes lives? Age UK Solihull is seeking a knowledgeable, organised and empathetic professional to provide high-quality, FCA-compliant debt advice to residents across the borough. The successful candidate will have significant experience providing FCA-compliant debt advice, as well as strong communication and organisational skills. This role plays a key part in supporting Solihull residents to remain independent, safe, healthy, and active members of their community.

Main Responsibilities



Provide a full Debt Advice and Casework service to residents of Solihull.

Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, including FCA authorisation requirements.

Support residents to access the services they need to maintain independence and wellbeing.

Work effectively with partner agencies, ensuring strong and appropriate referral pathways and coordinating referrals for vulnerable residents.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and best practice.

Provide ad-hoc support to residents and Hub Advisors as required.

Contribute to the development and improvement of Community Advice Hub systems and processes.

Promote the Community Advice Hubs to partner organisations and to residents.

Support the development and maintenance of a reference tool of referral pathways and partner services.

Maintain accurate records, databases, and reporting information.

Report service gaps or operational issues to the Hubs Manager.

Work flexibly as part of the wider Hubs team, adapting to demand across the service.

Attend training and meetings as required.

Undertake any other duties relevant to the role.

Additional Notes



Staff are expected to work flexibly across locations and support all areas of the Community Advice Hub/Information and Advice Services as required.

All staff have a responsibility to follow Safeguarding Adults legislation and guidelines, promote the wellbeing of at-risk individuals, and ensure they understand their rights.

Staff must adhere to Age UK Solihull's Health & Safety policies.

All staff are expected to support fundraising activities where appropriate.

Essential Criteria



Minimum of

2 years' experience providing FCA-compliant debt advice

. Strong FCA knowledge and experience delivering holistic debt advice solutions. Experience working directly with clients, either face-to-face or by phone. Commitment to the values and mission of Age UK Solihull. Broad understanding of issues affecting Solihull residents. Strong awareness of diversity, equality, and inclusion. Good understanding of Data Protection requirements. Excellent IT and numerical skills. Highly organised, self-motivated, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. Strong verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria



Benefits advice knowledge. Understanding of the Care Act 2014. Good understanding of safeguarding adults and children. Knowledge of the Solihull Borough. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across multiple levels.
