We are looking to recruit a decontamination assistant to join our friendly, 10 surgery dental practice in Lichfield city centre.
As a dental decontamination assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring dental instruments and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, sterilised, packaged and prepared for reuse. You will work in our designated decontamination area, following specific guidelines and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Disinfection: Washing, disinfecting, and drying dental instruments and equipment according to the practice protocols and procedures.
oSterilisation: Operating sterilisation equipment (e.g., autoclaves, ultrasonic baths)
oInspection and Assembly: Carefully inspecting instruments for cleanliness and functionality before assembling them for use.
oMaintaining Records: Keeping accurate records of sterilisation cycles and equipment maintenance.
oFollowing Protocols: Adhering to strict infection control guidelines and protocols, including those outlined in HTM 01-05
oMaintaining instrument and equipment availability: Ensuring sufficient supplies of sterilised instruments and equipment are always available
oWorking as Part of a Team: working together ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.

Previous experience in a dental/healthcare setting is desirable but not essential - full in-house training will be provided.

This is a temporary position initially for 3 months, which will be reviewed on a regular basis .
