We have a fantastic opportunity for an Decontamination nurse to become part of our team. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering exceptional care to patients with honesty, ethics and care at the forefront of their values.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilise dental instruments in accordance with HTM 01-05 (or relevant national guidelines).
Operate and maintain decontamination equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, washer-disinfectors, and autoclaves.
Carry out routine testing, validation, and performance checks of sterilisation equipment, keeping accurate records.
Ensure all instruments are packaged, labelled, stored, and rotated correctly to maintain sterility.
Infection Prevention & Control
Maintain strict adherence to cross-infection control protocols throughout the practice.
Manage clinical waste disposal according to legislation and practice procedures.
Monitor stock levels of sterile supplies and decontamination materials.
Support the implementation of infection control audits and improvement plans.
Compliance & Record Keeping
Maintain accurate logs of sterilisation cycles, equipment checks, and tracking of instrument sets.
Ensure compliance with CQC and regulatory bodies regarding decontamination processes.
Report equipment faults or failures promptly and escalate where necessary.
Clinical Support
Assist clinical staff by preparing clean instrument trays and ensuring timely availability of sterile equipment.
Follow practice protocols for handling, transporting, and storing contaminated instruments.
Training & Continuous Improvement
Participate in ongoing IPC training and contribute to improving decontamination procedures within the practice.
Support new or junior staff with correct decontamination and sterilisation techniques.
