Job description




We are seeking a motivated and experienced Inventory Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring the availability, accountability, and traceability of equipment throughout its life cycle.


Responsibilities will include:

Managing operational and peacetime inventory and legacy systems. Maintaining inventory levels in line with the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) and Defence Digital logistics policies. Overseeing demand and supply management processes to meet customer needs. Supporting codification and asset registration for effective tracking and reporting. Managing and maintaining data accuracy across all logistics information systems. Monitoring repair and disposal transactions and ensure compliance with policy and process. Investigating queries and analysing logistics information system outputs to identify and resolve anomalies. ###

Person specification




This role would suit an individual with:

Proven experience in a supply chain or logistics management role. Proficiency in extracting, analysing, and interpreting supply chain data to inform decisions. Working knowledge of logistics information systems and defence inventory management processes. Track record of managing process improvements and implementing operational change. Experience working in defence or similarly structured, complex organisations. A flexible and results-driven mindset. The ability to create strong, effective working relationships across teams and stakeholders.

To be successful you must be working towards or have completed the SCM Skills Certificate Level 1. In addition, the post holder will need to achieve the MoD Supply Chain Level 1 qualification and BIWMS Licence

within 6 months of starting the role.

Hybrid Working




Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance. Applicants can request further information regarding how this may work in their team from the vacancy holder (see advert for contact details). The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.


The post does not offer relocation expenses.


External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
