As a Deli assistant you will be at the forefront of our stores driving customer service; excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role as you will be working closely with the customers and other members of your team to maximise sales. Although sales are important we want our customers to enjoy visiting our shops and ultimately come back again, it is your job to provide help and assistance to the customer and ensure they find everything they need whilst they are in our store. Product knowledge is essential for you to respond to customer enquiries and also make appropriate recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Carry out cleaning duties to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout
- Undertake and record temperature checks and ensure high standards of food hygiene are maintained
- Follow the processes laid down- Ensure customers are served promptly and efficiently
- Prepare food and beverages as necessary in accordance with Food To Go range and as required
- Replenish stocks within the in store Food To Go displays- Ensure brand standards are maintained and promoted
- Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles, such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use, in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint.
Applicants will need
:
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, or equivalent is desirable. An Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety is desirable.
- Experience of working within a food retail operation or service led organisation
- Excellent customer care and communication skills
- A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- High standards of presentation
- A flexible attitude
Previous experience in retail is preferred but not essential. Helpful, friendly and comfortable working with the public. GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent).To be enthusiastic, committed and self motivated. To be able to work as part of a team but also on their own initiative.
