Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deli Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving a variety of deli products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. You will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction through quality service and product knowledge.

Hours will be 6:30am-3:00pm with every other weekend off and a steady day off in the week - this can be discussed at time of interview.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve deli items, ensuring freshness and quality at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, adhering to food safety standards. Assist customers with their selections, providing knowledgeable recommendations and upselling where appropriate. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while following all health regulations. Manage inventory levels, ensuring that stock is rotated appropriately to minimise waste. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Handle cash transactions accurately, using basic math skills for sales processing.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred, with a focus on food preparation and serving. Familiarity with food safety practices is essential to ensure compliance with health regulations. Strong time management skills are necessary to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours. Culinary experience is advantageous but not mandatory; we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Basic math skills are required for handling transactions and managing stock levels effectively.
