Job Description

We are looking to hire a delivery driver based in our Belton Branch, Great Yarmouth (Norfolk). Delivery work starts from 2pm until 6pm, but on occasions, you may need to work until 7pm when busy.

The work entails delivering prescribed medication to patients in their homes, and also to care homes in and around Norfolk and Suffolk. The role will require lifting medium weights, embarking and disembarking a vehicle frequently, walking steps in variable building access or platforms, and some prolonged standing when preparing your delivery. This also requires safely handling returned waste medicines and appliances. You must have the skills to ensure accurate delivery to avoid data breaches and public health concerns from medicines sent to the wrong address. Attention to detail, presentability, and a caring attitude to colleagues and patients or customers is a must.

The role is subject to a DBS CHECK and this may be requested at anytime in the course of your employment.

Duties will include but not limited to



A regular round to collect prescriptions/documentation from GP surgeries and care homes (when required). Multi-drop deliveries making sure that recipient signs the delivery form. Loading, unloading, and sorting out deliveries received. Responsibly Communicating important information from the pharmacy to the patient/ patient's representatives/carers. Plan and request maintenance and repair of the Company Vehicle, including appropriate reporting of incident during accidents or vehicle damage. Cleaning and maintaining the state of the company van. The van must be presentable and cleaned to meet pharmacy hygiene and infection control procedures. Use portable GPS and a delivery app on a mobile phone or device to monitor status of delivery. Maintain GDPR protocols and patient confidentiality. Some delivery organisation work including supporting colleagues in branch to organise medicines waste returns, packaging boxes, and clean the delivery station. Attend any training required by the Company to support patient services that relates to your role. You will have to comply with company policies and procedures in respect to safe transport of goods and always have due regard for the security and safety of any goods in transit including the correct storage of refrigerated medication.

The position is permanent with 2 options on remuneration.



Option 1

. PAYE or employment contract paid at

12.50 per hour



Option 2

. Self-employed contractual delivery driver paid at

13.50 per hour



In both options, you will use the company van and a fuel card. For option 2, if you use your own van in times that the Company van is under maintenance, we can offer a rate of 14 per hour plus mileage of 45p/hour to cover your fuel -- this particular arrangement only takes effect when the company van cannot be used and after an approval in writing (email) from a head office representative. If you choose Option 2, you will be on this arrangement for a minimum of 1 year and any change will be sent as a request and decided on business needs.

Essential Requirement:

Full UK Driving License

Preferred: Clean driving license
