Dementia Support Worker - Holland House Day Service

12.80 per hour

15 hours per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

About The Role

Deliver Person-Centred Care

Support individuals with personal care, wellbeing, and daily routines. Encourage independence, dignity, and choice in all activities and care provision. Assist with medication administration (full training provided). Offer extra support at mealtimes, including serving teas, coffees, cake, and lunches.

Facilitate Engaging Activities

Organise, run, and assist with stimulating activities and outings. Support entertainers and external providers during day centre sessions. Encourage participation and create a fun, inclusive, welcoming environment. Support social interaction, friendship, and wellbeing among members.

Build Relationships & Support Families

Develop trusting relationships with members, families, carers, and healthcare professionals. Provide companionship and emotional support to improve wellbeing and confidence. Communicate effectively to ensure personalised care plans are followed.

Contribute to Safe & Efficient Operations

Assist with transport of members via minibus (if qualified) and help ensure safe travel. Work collaboratively as part of a team to maintain high standards of care. Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and internal care policies. Maintain accurate records and documentation where required.

Required Criteria

+ Experience with looking after the elderly + Must be happy to give personal care
+ Must have a desire and passion to support people living with Dementia
+ Must show empathy, kindness, patience and understanding
+ Happy to escort on a minibus
+ Must be happy to administer medication
+ Must be happy to work weekends
+ Have an understanding of confidentiality

Originally known as Worthing Council of Social Service, the organisation focused on alleviating poverty, isolation, and health challenges during difficult times. In the 1950s and 1960s, Guild Care established innovative day centres and residential care homes, significantly enhancing life quality for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Adapting continually, the charity later introduced specialised dementia care facilities and tailored services for those with learning disabilities.


Today, Guild Care supports over 3,000 people annually across West Sussex through a range of community-focused services. Remaining true to its founding values, the organisation is one of Worthing's largest employers, powered by almost 700 dedicated staff members and the essential contributions of more than 300 volunteers, all united in making a meaningful difference.
