Job Description

Connell Brothers Ltd is seeking an experienced Demolition Engineer Manager to join our team based in our Headquarters in Salford. As a Demolition Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the careful and strategic dismantling of structures, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating the structural integrity of buildings, planning demolition methods, managing permits, and overseeing the entire demolition process from concept to completion. The job not only requires technical acumen but also demands excellent project management skills, coordination with various stakeholders, and a thorough understanding of environmental and safety standards.

The candidate must be a hardworking individual, possessing high levels of initiative, and be readily available to adapt to different tasks. They must be fluent in English.

To apply for the position, you must have at least 2/3 years' experience in a similar role.

Role Responsibilities



Conduct site assessments to determine structural integrity

Develop detailed demolition plans and timelines

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards

Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors

Obtain necessary permits and approvals for demolition projects

Oversee the teardown and clearance of structures safely

Implement and monitor safety protocols to protect workers and the public

Manage budgets and resources effectively

Ensure proper disposal and recycling of demolition materials

Conduct post-demolition site inspections and report findings

Collaborate with engineers, architects, and environmental scientists

Utilize various demolition methods and techniques depending on project requirements

Support bid submissions where required and then ensure contract programmes are developed and communicated, with any risks identified with mitigation actions agreed

Utilise internal systems for costing, project preparation, and handover to site teams

Assist with Sub-Contractor Procurement & Management

Assist with the management of the transition from tenders to contracts

Coordinate with subcontractors, assess performance, and ensure compliance with design responsibilities, training etc.

Prepare Pre-Construction and Construction programs, Risk and Method Statements etc, highlight key dates, and manage procurement schedules

Create site plans, Construction Phase Plans, RAMs, Environmental Plans, Site Waste Management Plans & site drawings etc.

Ensure all sites are up to date with the Temporary Works Registers.

Ensure that the commercial team are aware of any potential variations promptly

Ensure all works carried out comply with all current HSQE legislation and company management systems and policies whilst providing visible HSQE leadership.

Ensure that the site teams are getting the right technical support and resources to achieve a successful contract outcome.

Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, industry bodies and other external organisations to ensure that the company reputation is maintained and enhanced.

Attend client meetings, provide progress updates, and address any concerns or changes to scope.

Ensure a smooth site handover upon completion.

Coordinate final site inspections, snagging, and documentation for project close-out

Submit all final reports and certificates to clients as required.

General Office Duties.

Experience



Experience in a similar role, ideally, within the demolition or enabling works sectors Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field Experience with demolition and construction projects The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and push projects forward in a challenging environment An effective team player and communicator with strong presentation skills in front of a wide audience Temporary Works Experience (TWC desirable) Lifting Appointed Person (desirable) Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Word / Project Manager etc (essential) HNC or degree qualified in a construction-related subject (desirable) Membership of a professional body e.g. Institution of Demolition Engineers (desirable) IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Leading Safely (desirable)
Salary - Commensurate with experience
