Your Role

You will provide hands-on support to the dentist, ensuring that every patient receives efficient, comfortable, and high-quality care. You will assist in all clinical procedures, prepare treatment rooms, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and patient communication.

Key Responsibilities

Provide chairside assistance for all clinical procedures

Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials for each procedure

Welcome patients warmly, ensuring comfort and reassurance throughout their visit

Take and process X-rays (where radiography qualified) and maintain accurate clinical records

Review schedules, anticipate clinician needs and prepare accordingly

Ensure all equipment and materials are ready before appointments

Assist with impressions, scans and other clinical tasks as required

Provide post-operative and oral hygiene instructions to patients

Maintain a clean and well-organised surgery throughout the day

Sterilise instruments according to cross-infection and CQC standards

Support all sterilisation and decontamination processes

Ensure prescriptions and lab work are accurately completed, packaged and dispatched

Escort patients to reception team for follow-up appointments

Contribute to daily morning meetings and support smooth clinical operations

Administrative Support

Update and maintain patient dental records accurately

Complete lab paperwork under dentist direction

Assist with stock management and general administrative duties

Communicate effectively with the front desk and wider team to ensure seamless workflow

What We are Looking For

Qualified Dental Nurse (GDC registered)

Proven experience in chairside assistance within general or specialist dentistry

Strong knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization, and cross-infection protocols

Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Calm, patient-focused, and able to work efficiently under pressure

High attention to detail and commitment to clinical excellence

Well-organised, reliable and proactive in supporting both team and patients
