About the role

The Faculty of Classics invites applications for a 3-year fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Classical Languages and Literature. This is a fixed-term position to cover the teaching and other responsibilities of Professor Llewelyn Morgan who is serving a term as Chair of the Faculty of Classics. The appointee will be employed by the Faculty of Classics and will hold a Lectureship at Brasenose College. The postholder is expected to engage in advanced study and research in any aspect of Classical literature and/or language, and teach both undergraduate and graduate students. They will also be expected to engage in examination assessment, admissions processes, and Faculty administration.

About you

The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher and teacher in broadly Classical literature and/or language defined, and be able to teach a broad range of topics. The appointee will attract and teach graduate students in Classical literature and/or language and will supervise master\'s student theses. They will be required to conduct research, give lectures, classes and tutorials, supervise, support and examine students at all levels, and engage in the administrative work of the Faculty and the College including admissions processes.
