The Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of a depot. They are in charge of coordinating the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods or products, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The role will manage a team of supervisors and staff, monitor inventory levels, track deliveries and ensure that the depot operates smoothly. They role will be involved in budgeting, cost control, staff training, and implementing operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties



Role includes but not limited, ensuring all administration tasks are completed accurately and submitted on time as per the companies' procedures and task deadlines. Provide assistance to all staff (drivers and yard) where applicable. Ensure all deliveries and collections are fulfilled as per the instructions by the sale department. Ensure all vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy condition ensuring all vehicle maintenance schedules are adhered to. Ensure all drivers and yard staff comply with the driving time and WT directives respectively. Ensure all yard staff complete all tasks and targets allocated by the depot manager. Ensure all staff comply with all the companies H &S regulations. Ensure all work conducted at the depot is done in the most efficient manner taking the company, customers and H & S regulations into consideration. Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and submitted on time to the relevant recipients and departments. Were necessary, provide assist in the yard with loading / off-loading vehicles, welding and customer deliveries / collections. Provide the appropriate assistance to all Nat Ops Team members, Sales, Transport, Head office if requested. Ensure the integrity of the company is maintained at all times when dealing with customers, suppliers and all internal staff. Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed as requested ensuring all relevant documentation is correctly completed by all drivers. Ensure all drivers complete a daily inspection on all vehicles ensuring all defects are recorded, reported to Transport and the appropriate remedial repairs completed. Liaise with all Transport Service Providers ensuring all maintenance schedules are adhered to. Ensure all staff comply with the driving time and WT directives at all time. Ensure all yard staff are monitored and supervised ensuring all daily, weekly and monthly tasks and targets are completed as the Task Deadline. Ensure all staff comply with all the companies H & S regulations ensuring all accidents and near misses are reported accordingly

Requirements:



Proven experience in depot management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control standards. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
