Role: : Depot supervisor/ relief Van Driver (3.5T)

Role Overview As Yard Supervisor, you will provide clear leadership and direction across all depot yard operations, setting standards, driving compliance, and ensuring the safe and efficient management of people, vehicles, and healthcare waste movements. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role, requiring the ability to lead by example, motivate teams, and maintain high operational and safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, supervise, and coordinate all daily yard operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.

Take full ownership of yard standards, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring healthcare waste is managed in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

Provide direct leadership to driver teams, including coaching, monitoring performance, and addressing non-compliance promptly and professionally.

Allocate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure staff are fully briefed and supported to carry out their duties effectively.

Conduct regular inspections of the yard, vehicles, and equipment, taking decisive action to resolve any issues identified.

Act as the first point of contact for incidents, accidents, or safety concerns, ensuring they are reported, investigated, and followed up with corrective actions.

Manage stock levels onsite and within vehicles, ensuring continuity of operations through timely ordering and control.

Ensure adequate PPE is available, worn correctly, and that high standards of housekeeping are maintained.

Maintain accurate and compliant records relating to waste movements, vehicle checks, inspections, and staff activity.

Operational Duties:

Step in to complete pre-planned healthcare waste collections where required to support operational continuity.

Deliver stock and consumable items to customers as needed.

Carry out vehicle checks and ensure all documentation and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.

Ensure collection and transfer documentation is organised, complete, and compliant.

Role Requirements

Full UK driving license, preferably clean

Minimum of 2 years consistent van driving experience

Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment

Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated

Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills

Considerate and professional driver, attentive on customer sites

Strong "can-do" attitude and commitment to high standards

Capable of working independently and collaboratively

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 14.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
