The vacancy
Sight Scotland is looking for an inspiring and passionate Depute Head Teacher to join the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with vision loss. You'll play a key role in shaping our curriculum, supporting our talented teaching team, and working closely with families and partners to ensure every learner can thrive.

You'll need to be a qualified teacher with full GTCS registration and have experience working with young people who have visual impairment and complex additional support needs. Strong leadership skills, creativity, and a commitment to inclusive education are essential. If you are ready to bring energy, ideas, and compassion to a unique learning environment, we would love to hear from you.

Join us and help create a school where every young person feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their potential.

You don't need to meet every single requirement to be a great candidate. Most people learn parts of the job once they're in post, so if a role interests you and you believe you could grow into it, we'd love to hear from you.

We're committed to fair, accessible recruitment. If you need any adjustments, like extra time, a different format, or other support, at any stage of the process, just let us know. Please contact People and Culture on 0131 378 2793 or via people@sightscotland.org.uk who can arrange for any support you need.
