About the role



We are looking for a confident and experienced person to take up the role of

Deputy Care Home Manager

in our team.

The role of the

Deputy Care Home Manager

will be to provide management and leadership to the home's team of care workers, under the supervision of the Registered Manager.

The post-holder is responsible for providing a high-quality residential care service, focused on delivering great outcomes for our residents whilst ensuring all regulatory and contractual standards are met and exceeded.

You will be a proactive, self-starting team player who is a great communicator and confident in managing and motivating a care home team.

Broadstreet House is a residential care home in a charming, well-maintained Grade II listed building, with a lovely garden where we grow our own fruit and vegetables.

Established over 25 years ago, we are home to up to 18 adult residents with learning disabilities. Our primary aim is to offer our residents a life filled with opportunities to develop their creative, social and life skills.

We are located just outside the village of Lyminge, which is just 7 miles (approximately 15-minute drive) from Folkestone.

Duties and responsibilities



Manage and co-ordinate day-to-day activities within the service:

Ensure that services meet and exceed standards set by regulatory bodies, including the CQC, National Care Standards, NICE standards, and contractual obligations. Undertake administrative tasks e.g. in relation to staff records, management returns and maintaining records, as required. Liaise with external professionals, individuals and families as required to ensure that the needs of the residents are supported, reviewed regularly and plans developed so that we continue to meet their needs. Ensure that effective referral protocols and practices are in place to enable speedy and positive responses are provided to meet new demands. Ensure requirements are met within the home and comply with Health & Safety legislation. Deputise for the Registered Manager as and when required.
Manage the care team:

Deploy the team to maximise staff and cost efficiency whilst meeting the needs of the residents. Create efficient rotas for staff shifts, ensuring rotas are in place ahead of time. Contribute to the recruitment and induction of staff. Manage and support staff with the Registered Manager in line with Broadstreet House Policies and Procedures, including supervision, appraisals, absence management, disciplinary and grievance issues. Promote and support effective team working through good communication and regular staff and team meetings. Identify individual and team learning and development needs and plan to meet these in conjunction with learning and development staff. Ensure that essential and required training is undertaken by staff.
Ensure best practice is delivered within the service:

Ensure that appropriate

person-centred

care plans, risk assessments and reviews are kept up to date. Implement and monitor the quality assurance audits and documents, actively promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Actively promote and support inclusion, ensuring that individuals are supported to participate in community according to their interests and wishes. Undertake additional activities such as involvement in projects to further individual and organisational development.
Create and maintain effective communication channels:

Develop and maintain effective communication systems within the team. Ensure regular team meetings are held. Ensure regular planning and reviews are carried out for all individuals supported. Ensure effective representation and joint working with key agencies, families and individuals. Develop and nurture good communication channels with families of residents. Maintain external communications channels including Facebook page and website. Create a strategy for achieving an ongoing positive relationship with the Work Centre, Local Authorities and other relevant stakeholders to promote the organisation positively.

Working hours



40 hours per week Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service including carrying out shifts if necessary and being on call

Reporting



The

Deputy Care Home Manager

will report to the Registered Manager. Broadstreet House operates on a 24/7 basis throughout the year, so the

Deputy Care Home Manager

will be periodically expected to take the lead in managing operations in the absence of the Registered Manager.

Ability to write care plans, risk assessments and newsletters Ability to draw up and adjust rotas Ability to write clear and concise reports, including financial reports and budget forecasts Good communication skills Ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders

Desirable experience, qualifications and skills



NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care A Management Diploma
