We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Deputy Children's Home Manager to join our team and help provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children in both our respite and community services.



This vital leadership role involves assisting the Children's Home Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of care, and fostering a positive atmosphere where children can thrive.



The ideal candidate will bring a passion for working with children and young people, strong management skills, and 2 years experience in residential settings. Your proactive approach will contribute to creating a welcoming home where children feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.



Principle Support want to change children's lives for the better, and you should too. To be successful in this role, you will have an empathetic nature and be able to remain calm in sometimes difficult situations.



You will have experience of working with behaviours that challenge, and be able to draw on your skills and knowledge to deal with any situation those behaviours may present.



The role of a deputy manager will typically involve hands on support both weekends and weekdays Aswell as assisting the Children's Home Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of care, and fostering a positive atmosphere where children can thrive. :



Support the Children's Home Manager in supervising daily operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and policies.

Assist in developing and implementing individualized support plans tailored to each child's needs.

Oversee staff rostering & Supervision

Contribute to maintaining a safe environment by conducting regular safety checks, managing competency and audits in relation to medication administration, and responding effectively to incidents or emergencies.

Foster positive relationships with children, families, social workers, and other proffessionals to promote holistic well-being and seamless support networks.

Participate in staff meetings & training sessions

Take part in the on call roster

Meeting the emotional and physical needs (personal care) of the young people we support and maximizing opportunities for their development

Supporting the child to work towards there personal development plan and achieve their identified goal

Attend and contribute to meetings and reviews

Form effective relationships with the young people we support, their families (where appropriate) and external agencies7

Administer medication in line with the MAR chart & review MAR chart

Contributing to the social and educational development of each young person you work with

Supporting our young people to access social and leisure activities

Supporting the children and young people in both the community and respite setting

Ensure the safety and welfare of children at all times

Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns appropriately

Maintain accurate records and incident reports

Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment

Maintain clear and confidential records

Follow organisational policies and procedures

Ensure care practices meet regulatory and organisational standard

Support, mentor, and guide Children's Support Workers and new staff

Lead shifts and delegate tasks appropriately

Contribute to staff inductions, training, supervision , competency assessment and performance support

Model best practice and professional behaviour at all times

Ensure that audits within the home are completed in a timely manner and action plan completed

Review support notes and mentor staff

Review documentation completed by support staff

Rostering shifts

On call responsibilities

De-escalate and manage challenging behaviour adhering to behaviour management guidelines and utilising techniques trained in as part of CPI training.

Keyworker role

Ensure that health and safety checks are completed within service

Ensure care practices meet regulatory and organisational standard

What we need from you:



Proven experience working in children's residential service , at least two years in the last five years .

Demonstrated supervisory or management experience within a children's service

Strong understanding of supporting individuals with communication difficulties, learning disabilities , autism and behaviours that challenge

Knowledge of developing and implementing care plans

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff

Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, social workers and external agencies.

Completion of level 3 in children and young people residential childcare or equivalent

Willingness or enrolled onto/ completed Level 5 leadership and management

Ability to work shifts, including sleep ins and / or waking nights . Please note our service is 365 days a year and a mixture of mornings , days, lates , sleep , wake nights and community support.

A real passion for helping to nurture and encourage young people

Willingness to undertake training and DBS checks

Strong resilience, effective problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure in challenging situations.

Sound understanding of safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practice in children's homes including the SCIFF.
