-- a dynamic and rewarding role where you'll help lead the day-to-day operations, drive community engagement, coordinate events, promote and support the strategic development of our busy Community Centre.

About the Role



As Deputy Manager, you'll play a key leadership role -- working closely with the Centre Ops Manager and Trustees to ensure the smooth running of the Centre. You'll oversee operations, finances, marketing, events, and staff supervision (deputising for the Manager), while helping grow our impact in the local community.

This is the perfect role for someone with initiative, excellent organisational skills, and a real enthusiasm for supporting people, projects, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities



Centre Operations



Be a key point of contact for Centre users, partners, and stakeholders. Oversee room bookings, facilities management, and equipment coordination. Monitor and uphold all health & safety procedures and legal compliance. Ensure the building is clean, safe, welcoming and well-maintained.

Financial Oversight



Support financial processes including invoicing, payments, petty cash, and bank deposits. Maintain accurate records using Sage Accounting Software and Excel. Assist in budget planning, reporting, and audit preparation alongside the Centre Manager.

Marketing & Events Management



Lead on marketing the Centre via social media, newsletters, and printed materials. Design and deliver a varied programme of events, workshops and community activities. Build partnerships with local groups and sponsors to co-host or fund events. Raise the Centre's profile through effective branding and promotion.

Community Engagement



Promote the Centre and its services to the wider community. Collaborate with residents, local organisations, and service providers. Encourage inclusive use of the Centre and develop outreach to underrepresented groups.

Team Support



Supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and contractors. Assist with rota planning, inductions, training, and safeguarding records. Promote a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Administration



Develop and maintain booking logs, user records, and contact databases. Respond to phone, email and in-person enquiries. Prepare reports, updates, and documentation for the Manager or Trustees.

About You



Essential:



Experience in administration or operations management. Basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge. Confidence using spreadsheets and financial software, particularly Sage. Solid experience using all facets of Microsoft Office Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage time, priorities, and work independently.

Desirable:



Experience in the community or voluntary sector. Experience running events or managing marketing campaigns. Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and equality legislation. Familiarity with fundraising, grants or community partnership work.

Additional Info



This role may require occasional evening or weekend work. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check (UK). Training and support will be provided.
