Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA or Authority) is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to perform the duties and responsibilities of Deputy Director - Enterprise Risk Management. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer or their designate, the Deputy Director will be responsible for institutional risk oversight, including designing, embedding and continuously improving the Authority's enterprise risk management framework that effectively translates its risk appetite into informed decision-making practices that support the Authority's unique operating model and strategic plan.


This is a key role for the Authority and the incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:

Leading, designing and embedding a sound Authority-wide integrated risk management framework Establishing, facilitating and monitoring the effective implementation of risk management practices and tools, as well as ensuring compliance with risk operating policies and procedures throughout the Authority Monitoring, assessing and preparing appropriate and accurate documentation of risks, the impacts and adequate risk response strategies Detecting and assessing potential threats to the Authority's operating model and collaborating with stakeholders to determine appropriate mitigation strategies Delivering regular risk analysis reports complete with an independent assessment of the Authority's risk profile and actionable plans for mitigating key risks at all levels Implementing a robust architecture for measuring risk exposure and control effectiveness through a data-driven approach Monitoring and reporting on adherence to and consistency of strategic initiatives with the BMA's Board of Directors approved risk appetite framework, risk tolerances and risk profile Overseeing and conducting policy and compliance audits, including control testing Advising on and leading initiatives in support of the optimisation of the Authority's control environment Establishing a high level of trust and credibility by building and maintaining relationships with business partners, key stakeholders and collateral Advocating and supporting the culture of informed risk-taking, heightening awareness and using advanced risk management practices through training programs and coaching Assisting with the development of timely budgets for the effective management of the Department, ensuring that controls are in place to monitor the operations and provide accountability for expenses in keeping with the goals and objectives of the BMA
This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post-holder must have:

A master's degree in risk management, business, economics, finance or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution or professional body A minimum of twelve (12) years proven experience in implementing risk management strategies, governance and compliance activities within a regulated financial services business, of which at least five (5) years should be at a senior level Effective people management skills with proven leadership abilities that motivate both direct and indirect teams to perform at their best Ability to work within an environment that is entrepreneurial and innovative, utilising a common-sense approach with sound judgement while providing clear direction Superior communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex issues and express views/opinions in a concise and straightforward manner High level of integrity, trustworthiness and confidentiality
