About the Role:

Cell Press is looking for a future leader to help us take iScience, an exciting broad scope open access journal publishing in the life, physical, Earth and health science, to the next level.
We are seeking to add a dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Editor who shares our vision for bringing interdisciplinary communities together, and for helping scientists publish their work in a straightforward and timely way.

Responsibilities:

  • Helping the Executive Editor to manage an expanding team;
  • Managing a group of editors in the Life sciences;
  • Developing journal strategy and its implementation;
  • Establishing relationships with researchers who are publishing with our journals;
  • Recruiting exciting research papers for submission to iScience and fostering communities of interest;
  • Working collaboratively with academic editorial board members and editors;
Requirements:
  • Have studied Life Sciences discipline;
  • Have editorial experience;
  • Have broad scientific interests, a desire to learn, and the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues. As a scientific editor, you will need to develop an understanding of the diverse areas covered by the journal, as well as be open to exciting emerging topics;
  • Be able to communicate clearly;
  • Be able to organize, prioritize, and focus;
  • Be creative, willing to experiment, and have the desire to improve.
