About the team we are recruiting to

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy electoral services team.


You will work in a small team which is responsible for compiling an accurate register of all eligible electors in the areas, implementing statutory procedures surrounding the registration of electors and absent voters, along with the administration of free and fair elections and referendums in accordance with complex legislation.


Electoral Service is a front-line service, supporting the citizens of Coventry, working with a range of different customers and stakeholders. You will have a professional, friendly and polite manner.

What is the job role?

You will support the Head of Electoral Services in the strategic planning, organisation and delivery of all elections and referenda as well as maintaining the register of electors. Together with the development and supervision of the team.


You will work closely with other departments across the Council as we increasingly commission logistics, property and other services in support of election activity. The role will foster good working relationships with members of the public and councillors, and with other key partners.


This post is politically restricted.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).


Who are we looking for?

We are seeking candidates who are looking to develop their career in electoral registration and elections who have:

Experience in administering elections and substantial knowledge of electoral legislation Ability to deliver high-quality work within strict deadlines A high level of IT skills and the ability to work across systems. A strong customer focus, Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills. Effective communication skills at all levels Be adaptable and work flexibly. Effective supervisory and leadership skills You will need to be flexible and able to work extra hours, including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays during election periods.
