As we work towards the UK's 2030 net zero target, we are looking for a

Deputy General Counsel

to provide expert legal advice to our Senior Leadership Team and Executive Committee across a broad range of matters.



You'll help ensure we remain compliant with laws and regulations while championing the highest ethical standards. Acting as the General Counsel's deputy, you'll also represent the legal function at shareholder and key business meetings, playing a crucial part in shaping our legal strategy and supporting business success.

Location:

Hybrid - minimum 2 days per week at our Manchester office (flexibility based on business needs).

Type:

Fixed-Term Contract for 9-12 months.

Hours:

Full-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

What We're Looking For:



Qualifications



Bachelors degree in law (LLB) or Masters degree in law (LLM). Qualified solicitor.

Experience & Knowledge



Experience in a senior position in an in-house legal team. Extensive experience, ideally gained in private practice in corporate, finance or transactions as well as the ability to deal with other legal aspects such as contract law. Experience of managing a team. High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the business.

Technical Skills



Computer literate with ability to operate Microsoft Office and email Proven ability to lead a team of lawyers and legal support staff Able to negotiate Ability to provide strategic legal advice that aligns with business goals and objectives Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess complex legal issues and provide sound legal advice.

Leadership & Communication



Proven leadership experience including managing and developing a team. Confident communicator.

Personal Attributes



Flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive.
