We are looking for a new Deputy Head of Food Team who can work calmly under pressure, demonstrate great organisational skills, communicate clearly and have a proactive approach to solving problems. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be a critical support for the Head of the Food Team with key projects, as well as being capable of leading in their absence.

In this exciting role, you will work alongside the Head of the Food Team to deliver high quality food styling, art direction and recipe production personally and through the leadership of a team of in-house and freelance skilled stylists and assistants; on brand, on time and on budget to ensure that the Jamie Oliver brand remains a world leader in food.

You will have experience in running shoots, and will understand when to lead and when to take direction from Jamie and the Head of Food Styling, when appropriate.

Crucially, you will be experienced and passionate about leading a team and will offer guidance and support to nurture their career development

BRAND GUIDELINES

  • Supporting with the development, communication and implementation of Jamie Oliver\xe2\x80\x99s food styling strategy, working closely with the Head of the Food Team, Jamie and the Creative Director to ensure it is world leading
  • You will help develop and teach a set of food-styling brand guidelines across the business and to support the management and development of the Food Team.
  • Regularly talk to the Marketing Team to understand insights and data about our audiences and use these to ensure that our food styling is delivering against business objectives with specific focus on UK, USA, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands
  • Use the above to help develop, communicate, implement and oversee the food styling style guidelines across the group, ensuring that they are updated annually and that the wider business has a clear understanding of how to deliver food content that is on brand, including a list of approved freelancers
  • Instrumental in helping to maintain the quality of other food content across the JO businesses inc. Restaurants, Product and Marketing, whether through inhouse or 3rd party teams through a process of \xe2\x80\x98teaching out\xe2\x80\x99 and spot checking
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and technological advances in UK, USA, Australia, Germany and Netherlands, looking for the best ways to deliver our world-class food content
  • Work with the product team to advise, guide, brainstorm and develop new home and cookware products
FOOD, PROP & SET STYLING
  • Responsible for the food in some of Jamie Oliver\xe2\x80\x99s key media - TV, publishing, adverts, PR, branded content, marketing content and more - in the UK and abroad from concept to delivery, including but not limited to; advising on content, structure, art direction and design, writing and testing recipes, styling, set dressing and producing, liaising with all of our creative departments, working with internal and external teams to make informed decisions that prioritise group objectives
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders updated on ongoing projects, where appropriate and stand in for the Head of the Food Team on any decision making that she is unable to be available for
TEAM MANAGEMENT
  • Work with the Head of the Food Team to annually assess the food styling needs of the Jamie Oliver Group and create an appropriate resource and development plan to deliver, build strong teams to deliver and maintain quality food styling content
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the management and development needs of the food stylists are being met including team development tasks such as goals, Quarterly Catch ups etc and acting as a role model and mentor
  • Ensure the food styling team is engaged with the wider business, contributing a constant flow of new ideas and inspiration
  • Ensure that Group Objectives are well communicated throughout the food team, that their individual goals ladder up to them and that everyone has the tools to deliver
  • Ensure the team has a good understanding of the balance between our commercial, strategic and purpose-driven goals
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with creatives and freelance food stylist for flexible working
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • A proven track record working at a senior food styling level delivering food content across multiple platforms and types of media including recipe book publishing, TV, commercial, digital and social
  • Excellent creative and visual skills
  • Experienced in managing a team within an organisation and within a wide network of contacts to draw from
  • Significant experience in leading food and props styling
  • Experience in working on TV programmes and filming content for social platforms
  • A highly proficient cook and be aware of market trends in food
  • Excellent writing capability with proven experience in writing and testing recipes
