Sunshine Education Centre is an alternative provision for primary-aged learners (KS1 & KS2). We are recruiting a Deputy Head responsible for SEND to join our provision & staff team from September 2025.
The learners we support may demonstrate barriers or challenges towards their education; some may be vulnerable and have an EHCP to define their additional needs or an EHCP in progress. Creativity, perseverance and an empathetic approach when working with them is key to engaging them in education and ensuring their progression.
We are inviting applicants to join our team and inspire our learners. Our learners need enhanced support to develop their language & literacy skills. Often, our learners require an empathetic, patient approach to their learning with enjoyable & accessible lessons.
This role will involve:
Supporting the Head of Centre to ensure statutory SEND requirements are upheld (including individual learner needs) and overseeing all safeguarding needs
Customising individually tailored lesson plans for individual learners to ensure high quality subject-based learning
Understanding and supporting the challenges of our learners
Motivating & inspiring our colleagues to engage & achieve
Providing practical resources & strategies for colleagues to use & integrate into other lessons
Partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies
Helping to champion our school and the work of our learners & colleagues
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of centre to lead on essential planning, staff development, and pupil progress. Experience within a senior leadership role is essential as the role will include you being at the centre of inclusive learning along with overseeing statutory compliance (EHCP's, Annual Reviews).

Successful applications will have a full pre-screen, interview and visit to Sunshine Education Centre. Any appointment will be subject to a successful interview process, satisfactory references, DBS Enhanced Disclosure and successful completion of employment trial period.
