We are seeking an experienced and passionate
Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion Lead)
to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a unique opportunity to lead across multiple critical areas of our inclusive, child-centred provision. You will be a key strategic leader, driving positive behaviour, attendance, personal development, and character education while supporting our young people to overcome barriers to their education so that they thrive. In the absence of the Headteacher, you will assume operational leadership of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Inclusion & Behaviour
Lead and embed inclusive practices across our school.
Oversee behaviour strategy and policy, modelling restorative, trauma-informed approaches including de-escalation practises, staff training and leading the behaviour team.
Monitor and improve attendance across the school, supporting both proactive and responsive interventions.
Conduct quality assurance of alternative provisions, ensuring consistency, safeguarding, and impact on education for our young people.
Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of our Semi-Formal Curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of our learners and links in thematically with our formal curriculum.
Drive whole-school Character Education, embedding key personal development themes into the curriculum and culture.
Personal Development
Supporting the Futures lead in coordinating a meaningful and aspirational careers programme for our young people.
Conducting safeguarding and provision checks for work experience placements
Supporting the PSHE lead, ensuring high-quality delivery and coverage.
Lead on the school's approach to SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) education and promote British Values across all key stages.
GCSE Coordinator - source and co-ordinate a bespoke provision for young people at GCSE level to ensure they access a bespoke package suitably.
Leadership & Management
Deputise for the Headteacher as required, maintaining smooth operation of the school.
Line manage and support assigned staff through supervisions and performance management cycles.
Lead and/or deliver PE across the school, including planning and/or delivery for both primary and secondary pupils.
Organise and oversee whole-school events to enrich the school experience in collaboration with other SLT members.
Act as JCQ Internal Verifier, ensuring compliance and consistency in assessment procedures.
Analyse and report on Earwig data, using insights from EHCP (IEP) related attainment data to inform provision, teaching, curriculum, and planning needs across the school.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Leadership experience in a setting with a SEND or SEMH focus.
Strong understanding and experience of:
Safeguarding,
SEND legislation
Multi-agency working.

Behaviour
Inclusion across a school.
Desirable:
PE specialism
JCQ verifier experience
NPQSL
Proficiency in data analysis tools
Bromcom and Earwig systems knowledge
