About Us


Main Purpose

The Deputy Head, under the direction of the Headteacher, will:

Lead whole school strategic areas, according to interest and experience. Have a class teaching commitment, complying with the teachers' standards and

modelling best practice for others.

Develop high-quality teaching and learning across the whole school through

collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and all staff, ensuring that all

learners have access to the highest educational provision possible, so that they

achieve well as individuals, and that the achievement of the school as a whole, is high.

The Deputy Head, under the direction of the Headteacher, will take a major role in:

Promoting and upholding our vision and values. Formulating the aims and objectives of the school. Leading and managing school improvement, especially in targeted areas as identified

in the school improvement plan.

School Self-Evaluation. Data and Assessment. Managing staff and resources. Implementing Policies. Developing positive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and

governors in order to promote and sustain motivation and the desire to succeed.

To deputise for the Headteacher in their absence and share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school.

Leadership Spine Point 3 - 8 54,394 - 61,534 dependant on experience

What You Need to Succeed


Qualifications & Training



Qualified Teacher Status degree

Evidence of recent relevant and sustained professional development specifically related to leadership and management, NPQSL or willingness to undertake same or similar qualification. (A)

Knowledge & Experience



Experience of successful teaching across Key Stages 1 and 2

Experience of successful teaching in EYFS (A)

Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children (A/I)

Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2

Involvement in school self evaluation and school improvement planning

Involvement in curriculum development (A/L)

Secure subject knowledge of English and maths suitable for teaching in Key Stage 1 & 2

Experience in Core Subject

Leadership (L/I)

Evidence of impact as a leader in the Primary School setting

Experience of successful line management and staff professional development (L/I)

Specialist knowledge of a core National Curriculum subject (L/I)

Teaching & Learning



Understanding of high-quality teaching, and the ability to model this for others and support others to improve Experience of coaching and mentoring of staff to bring about significant and timely improvement to performance.

Record of high-quality effective teaching in Key Stage 1 and 2

Up-to-date knowledge of current issues in primary education

(L/I/R)

Successful experience of managing behaviour of pupils (L/I)

Experience of working with SEND and disadvantaged children (L/I)

A secure understanding of assessment strategies and the use of assessment to inform the next stages of learning (L/I)

Understanding of how to meet the needs of pupils with a range of prior attainment (L/I)

High aspirations for all children (L/I)

Criteria to be assessed through:
