support and work alongside the Registered Manager of the Residential Children's Home
in efficiently co-managing the house budget, overseeing the development of staff and the young people in placement, formulating and updating placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour management plans.
Responsibilities
To support the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with Company Policy and Procedures and meeting all OFSTED Regulations and Requirements.
To deputise/act up for the Registered Manager in their absence.
To attend Management Meetings and Development Training relevant to the role when required
To safeguard and promote the welfare and development of the young people and ensure that the young people's needs are recognised and met to their full potential where possible, working with the manager and team towards positive outcomes.
To ensure that the home provides an environment that is safe and sensitive to the needs of the young people.
To support the manager and team to ensure that the admission of the young people to the home is welcoming and reflects the expectations of their care plan and their stay complies with the ethos of the company and their care plan.
To support the manager in ensuring care plans and risk assessments are regularly reviewed by keyworkers.
To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, social workers, schools and other professionals involved with the welfare of the young people.
To undertake a dual role of managerial work and complete a working Deputy role undertaken a variation of shifts including sleep overs. To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day.
To ensure all staff maintain confidentiality at all times.
Experience
A minimum of NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential/Health & Social Care working with children in a residential setting, preferably Level 5 Leadership & Management Qualification in residential childcare or commitment to undertake this when in post.
At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory role. Good literacy and numeracy skills with administrative experience in case recording, rota preparation and report writing.
Up to date safeguarding training and a willingness to pursue further training.
Experience in leading a staff team, carrying out supervisions, appraisals and inductions.
Ability to demonstrate good childcare practice in their own direct work and able to mentor staff in good practice.
Good understanding of the Care Standards Act 2000 and Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015.
Clean driving licence and ability to drive with young passengers.
This is a regulated activity and a clear Enhanced DBS for working with children is required.
