Job Description

Old Gore Barn by Yard Space are now looking for an experienced Deputy General Manager to join our existing team and provide daily support to the General Manager.

The purpose of this job is to be able to deputise completely in the absence of the General Manager and to take on the responsibility together for the ongoing success of the barn on a daily basis.

The post holder will be expected to:

Help customers plan and specify choices over their wedding/event. This will involve viewings to sell the venue, planning meetings to build a specification for the day and ensuring that the communications through the notes system, telephone calls and meetings succeed in excellent standards for customer service, staff professionalism and troubleshooting. The plans must remain commercially viable at all times, and must continually build on the good reputation of the Cripps brand. The post holder will share the responsibility for rotas, ensuring cover for all weddings and providing administrative support through the notes system. Responsibility on the day itself to ensure the wedding or event runs smoothly or to ensure the staff member allocated to that day, is also able to act as the focal point for customers and is understanding in detail of their requirements, communicating these to other members of the team. Immaculate preparation beforehand will be key to ensure the experience for the couples is memorable and enjoyable. This will involve staff rostering, selection of casual workers and management of front of house standards. Be competent in all tasks which form part of the job specification of the General Manager to ensure the venue runs smoothly and efficiently in their absence.
This role has a focus on delivering excellent customer service at all times and to actively participate in monitoring viewings, sales and the performance of the barn to achieve the targets set. The post holder will actively manage the team, the environment and the facilities in line with customer expectations , brand reputation and commercial viability. The post holder will be expected to champion and uphold the highest of standards, managing the performance of staff, delivering training and role modelling to achieve those standards alongside the General Manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities



Oversee all aspects of the venue operations alongside the General Manager, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities. Ensure on-going success as a venue of choice. Demonstrate excellent levels of customer service at every stage of the process from start to finish to deliver an exceptional experience. Manage the enquiry process in the 'Cripps style', ensuring all emails, phone calls and admin are undertaken in a timely manner. Ensure all couples are greeted warmly, shown around the venue and have the opportunity to talk to someone knowledgeable about our offering. Monitor viewings, sales and performance of the venue against targets set and drive conversion rates. Be financially aware of decisions made and how this affects the accounts. Manage and motivate the front of house and kitchen teams, ensuring effective teamwork and communication. Manage the performance of the team, delivering training and role modelling to achieve those standards. Be responsible for the environment and facilities ensuring they are in line with customer expectation and are in excellent working order. Promote and drive brand awareness, reputation and commercial viability. Collaborate closely with the Head Office teams to ensure ongoing evaluation of enquiries, conversions, standards and performance. Foster a positive working environment that encourages team collaboration and development.

Requirements



Proven experience in a senior managerial role within the hospitality sector is essential, minimum of 2 years experience. Strong knowledge of food and beverage practices. Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff. Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of operations. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees and customers alike. Ability to work flexible hours, including regular evening and weekend working. Experience in accommodation management would be advantageous.
